This year we celebrated the 40th anniversary of National Earth Day with community cleanup and restoration projects, learning experiences, hikes, wild flower walks, electric car races, can recycling contest, family movie nights and MORE!
"As we continue to tackle our environmental challenges, it’s clear that change won’t come from Washington alone. It will come from Americans across the country who take steps in their own homes and their own communities to make that change happen."
This Saturday (April 24th 2010) is a big day for Earth Month activities because it's the first weekend after Earth Day. Below are a few events that are open to the public and/or need volunteers. More can be found at www.earthmonthmc.org.
Be sure to celebrate National Earth Day on Thursday, April 22. Activities include after-school programs at the Pasco and Kennewick Libraries, a program on choosing the best trees for our area, a family movie and discussion on garbage and a kick-off collection event for recycling used athletic shoes!
